The iconic building in the heart of the city centre is home to a 14-screen cinema and IMAX and offers a variety of restaurants, bars, a nightclub, hair and beauty salon, casino and adventure golf course.
Charlie Truman, Retail Liaison and Marketing Manager for The Cornerhouse, said:
“We were really excited when we heard about Hoodwinked 2018 coming to the city, and we couldn’t resist getting involved with this fairytale-like trail.
“Robin Hood is synonymous with the city, and for some it’s what brings them to Nottingham. This is great for The Cornerhouse, and for the local economy, so it seemed only natural to get involved with a campaign promoting a figure who has provided so much for the city.
“Art should be celebrated wherever possible, and this is a great initiative to give it a platform. Hoodwinked gives the public and artists the chance to express themselves and become a part of Nottingham’s culture, and that’s something we’re thrilled to help facilitate.”
The Hoodwinked sculpture trail will run in the city centre from 7 July to 30 September. It’s a twist on the tale of Robin Hood, transforming Nottingham’s iconic outlaw into the form of robins, each one uniquely designed and decorated by artists.
There will be around 30 sculptures on the trail, each sponsored by a business. The sculptures will be auctioned in October 2018 to raise money for Nottinghamshire Hospice.
Councillor Dave Trimble, Nottingham City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture, welcomes the support of The Cornerhouse. He said:
“Hoodwinked will create a great summer of free entertainment for Nottingham. We are delighted that the trail is being supported by The Cornerhouse, which is a great entertainment venue all year round. We hope the trail will bring many more new customers to their doors.”
Hoodwinked is led by Nottingham City Council in partnership with Wild in Art, a leading creative producer of spectacular free public art events through the creation of uniquely-painted sculptures.
